We have founded and are currently operating and directing a children's home for orphans. The needs here in Thailand are enormous due to the percentage of children being left alone as a result of parents dying from the AIDS virus, drug addictions, and various other situations.

The children's home is also being used as a base facility providing assistance in the areas of:

  • Leadership Training

  • Worship

  • Community Involvement

  • Local Outreaches

  • Assisting long and short term teams and individuals

We believe in the proverb of "train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." These goals drive all that we do here at the River of Life Children's Home. Below are some specific projects that we currently have.

Child Sponsors

We currently have 23 kids in our children's home and 3 that are living away from home. The cost per child is $125 per month. Since this is a lot to ask from one family, we try and find multiple sponsors for our children. Our heart is to provide for our kids with excellence and give them the opportunities to achieve the kind of future they dream about.

The $125 covers all expenses from food, housing, and schooling costs, to clothing, medical costs and helps to provide staffing for them. All we ask is that if you decide to sponsor a child, you commit to giving at least $30 each month.

Leadership Training

As part of our program, the children are involved in learning principles they can apply as they grow older and are receiving training on how to be a leader.

They have morning devotions during the week where they learn about how to love other people and how to walk with character and integrity in their everyday relationships.

Worship

Our children are very gifted musically. They have their own worship team and practice three nights a week. Some have shown giftings in writing and have written some songs.

In addition to singing and playing instruments, some of the kids have shown interest and talent in dancing. In the near future we will be providing some more opportunities for them to develop in this area as well.

Community Involvement

Our heart is for our community to learn principles that will provide them with better opportunities and futures so that they may become prosperous in their communities.

Local Outreaches

We help local people with housing assistance. This includes helping people with both labor and finances in building homes for their families. An average paid worker will make about $7.50 a day. Although the cost of living is cheaper here in Thailand, we believe the quality of life doesn't have to be.

Assisting Long and Short Term Teams/Individuals

One of our goals is to allow people a place to come and experience another culture. Our lives were changed after we left the United States for the first time. We realized the value of seeing and experiencing another culture. We purposed in our hearts to provide that same opportunity for others.

We have built the space on our property to host both small and large teams for both short and long term time frames. Over the past few years we have had many different types of people come and visit. We have had pastors, families, school groups, and work teams come and stay with us. If you are interested in learning more about coming to visit, please

Self Sufficiency

Our desire with this facility is to make it as self sufficient as possible.

As of this year the local Social Welfare Department has put a limit to how many children a home may have according to its size. We have been given the limit of 60 children based on our facility. We are sure in the future we will be at capacity.

We have grown to 4 staff members, 2 long term volunteers and 23 children bringing us to a total of 29 people. Our intentions are to continue to grow with more children this year, and the years ahead.

We are on 16 rai of land (about 8 acres). Four of these are planted in rice once a year which supplies the home with enough rice to last a year. We also grow our own vegetables and have some fruit trees which include: bananas, lumyi, lynchees, papayas, and mangos.

Our staff and children work on a daily basis looking after the facility. We are currently able to provide approximately half or more of the food intake for both the children and staff.

THANK YOU ALL FOR ANOTHER INCREDIBLE YEAR IN THAILAND..
